Resource Development Group Limited (RDG) is pleased to announce that it’s wholly owned subsidiary Central Systems Pty Ltd (Centrals) has successfully negotiated the assignment of two contracts from Killarnee Civil & Concrete Contractors Pty Ltd (Killarnee) for construction works on Barrow Island for Chevrons’ Gorgon LNG project. Prior to Killarnee placing themselves into voluntary administration on 1st September 2014 an agreement was signed between Centrals and Killarnee for the purchase/sale of assets and assignment of construction contracts.
The contracts include LNG tank construction for CB&I Constructors Pty Ltd (CB&I) and a minor civil works contract for Leightons. Both contracts are reimbursable on a rates and materials basis. In addition 72 personnel including supervision and workforce plus assorted plant and equipment on the island have been transferred to Centrals.
Mr Paul Thompson, the owner of Killarnee, has joined Centrals to lead the newly formed oil & gas division.
RDG’s Managing Director Jeff Brill commented “This is an important strategic outcome for Centrals. Via these contracts they will be able to build on previous oil & gas contracts they have delivered and establish a footprint in the oil & gas sector, within one of their core capabilities. From a reputational point of view this is also a great outcome, Centrals have provided a solution to Chevron and the Gorgon project, CB&I, Leightons and importantly the personnel on Barrow Island. Diversification is a core strategy for RDG, within service offerings and sectors and this outcome is a clear signal of that strategy”.
